The Six of Pentacles shows a merchant holding scales in one hand and distributing coins to two kneeling figures with the other. The image is generous — and unsettling. The scales measure something. The kneeling figures receive, but from a position of supplication. The question this card quietly asks is not just who gives and who receives, but what the exchange actually costs the receiver.

This is the tarot’s most nuanced card about generosity and power. It celebrates genuine giving — the act of sharing abundance with those who have less. It also asks to examine whether the giving comes with conditions, whether the receiving comes with dignity, and whether the scales are truly balanced.

In Love & Relationships

An imbalance in giving and receiving within a relationship. One person consistently more generous, more present, more invested. The Six of Pentacles asks for the scales to be examined — and for generosity to flow in both directions.

A raise, bonus, or financial gift is possible. Or the opportunity to be the generous one — to mentor, invest in, or support someone whose talent deserves recognition. Financial reciprocity is the theme.
