What is the Major Arcana?
The Major Arcana — from the Latin for “greater mysteries” — are the 22 trump cards of the tarot, numbered 0 through XXI. Where the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana speak to everyday matters, the Major Arcana cards mark the great turning points: the callings, endings, awakenings, and transformations that shape a life. When one appears in a reading, the cards are telling you that something larger than the day-to-day is moving.
