Strength
“Strength does not conquer love. It opens the door and waits.”
General Meaning
Strength shows a figure gently closing the mouth of a lion — not through force, but through calm, loving presence. The lion does not resist. This is the image of genuine strength: not domination, but integration. The capacity to meet the most powerful, most frightening aspects of experience — including those within yourself — with grace rather than fear.
When Strength appears, the situation calls for patient courage rather than aggressive force. What is required is the willingness to remain present with difficulty — with your own fear, with another’s intensity, with uncertainty — without flinching and without forcing a resolution before its time.
In Love & Relationships
In love, Strength represents the extraordinary capacity to love without needing to dominate — to be powerful and tender simultaneously. This is the partner who can hold space for another’s difficulty without being overwhelmed by it, who can remain steady when things are hard, who brings courage to the ordinary moments of relationship as well as the dramatic ones. The shadow is suppression: keeping everything so controlled that genuine feeling cannot surface.
In Career & Finances
In career, Strength signals the ability to handle difficult situations, difficult people, and difficult emotions without losing composure. This is the leader who earns loyalty through consistency rather than authority, the professional whose real power lies in their ability to remain centered under pressure. Long-term success here comes through character, not cleverness.
Spiritually
Spiritually, Strength represents the integration of the shadow — the willingness to face what is most feared in the self and to transform it through compassionate awareness rather than suppression or acting out. The spiritual path here requires extraordinary gentleness with oneself: not the gentleness that avoids difficulty, but the gentleness that can meet it without armor.
Reversed Meaning
Reversed, Strength shows the lion winning — self-doubt roaring louder than self-trust, or feelings suppressed so firmly that they leak out as harshness toward yourself and others. Courage has not left you; it is waiting behind the fear. Begin with gentleness toward the one person you are hardest on. That is where the taming starts.
Advice
Be strong enough to be soft. The lion within you does not need to be conquered — it needs to be understood. Your gentleness is not weakness. It is your deepest strength.
